The goal of Teaching Prevention 2009 is to improve prevention and public health education by providing an interactive forum for representatives from different disciplines to advance communication, collaboration and partnerships by:
- Exploring innovative approaches to educational programs
- Integrating educational approaches in traditional and non-traditional health settings
- Examining practical methods for implementing the recommendations of the Healthy People Curriculum Task Force
- Developing education and training opportunities through interprofessional teams
REQUESTED TOPICS FOR SUBMISSION
Submissions for poster presentations should relate to the academic and public health community. Specific topics could include:
- Prevention and quality in medical education
- Interprofessional education
- Team-based practice & education of prevention
- Teaching programs and curricula for health professionals and health professionals in training
- Teaching programs and interventions at the community level
SUGGESTED TOPICS FOR SUBMISSION
Poster submissions relating to the Conference Focus and Session topics are encouraged; however, submissions in any area of health promotion and disease prevention, public health and preventive medicine education, research and training are welcomed.
SUBMISSION PROCESS
Abstracts must be submitted online at http://atpm.org/teachingprevention/abstracts.html.
Poster presentations must be set up in the exhibit hall between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Poster will remain in the exhibit hall for display until Friday, February 13, 2009.
Presenters must be available to discuss their work and answer questions during the formal poster session and reception on Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. More information will be provided upon notification of acceptance. Abstracts for poster presentations must present the results of scientific research, technological advances and innovations in program design, practice methods or educational techniques.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- All presenters whose poster abstracts are accepted for presentations are required to pay the meeting registration fee and all other expenses involved in attending the meeting.
- All poster presenters are required to prepare their own handout for participants.
- Each presenter is required to complete a faculty discloser form indicating any financial arrangement or affiliation with any organizations hat may have a direct interest the subject matter of the presentation.
- Presenters may not use any conference presentation to market products or services
- Accepted abstract submissions may be posted on the website of the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research.

DEADLINE AND NOTIFICATION
Deadline for submission of abstracts in November 14, 2008
All abstract authors will be notified of the results of the review in early December.
